Our Backwell Tennis Club Tournament culminated with a Finals Weekend on 12 and 13 September. A weekend of two halves saw an American Doubles tournament on Saturday, and an action-packed schedule of Junior & Adult Finals on Sunday...
Saturday was a lovely (mainly) sunny day for our American Doubles – with 21 members playing a social yet competitive afternoon of tennis. As in previous years, the beauty of this format is that we can level the playing field - whether that's via seeding of players, restrictions on first serves, and/or sneaky penalty points!! Entered as an individual, doubles partners are allocated and rotated every round in a fun and friendly format. Thank you to everyone who took part with such enthusiasm!

Even though the sun didn’t shine on Sunday for the Tournament Finals day, the spirit more than made up for it, drizzly conditions don’t stop Backwell Tennis club players! 18 finals were completed with some fantastic tennis played in both the adult and junior categories which was thoroughly enjoyed by our hardy spectators. Thank you to all the supporters, umpires and helpers!
Well done to all those that competed throughout the tournament and particularly to our finalists and winners. And thank you to everyone who attended and helped out with such enthusiasm - a lovely event spent with great company.
